Nexa3D and me: Mehdi Mojdeh, Vice President of Engineering

3D printing can address healthcare challenges, reduce carbon emissions, and create products that would never have otherwise been possible. The technology has an untapped potential that, through the hard work and talent of engineers and industry pioneers, will be realized in the coming decades. To help propel 3D printing forward, Nexa3D is on the lookout for engineers to join its growing team. In this short article, Mehdi Mojdeh, Nexa3D’s new Vice President of Engineering, tells us about his new role and his journey so far.

I became familiar with 3D printing technology when I was studying for my PhD at the University of Southern California (USC) — I’m a process engineer by trade, so the idea of transforming raw materials into everyday products really appealed to me. After graduation, I joined 3D Systems as a Senior Research Engineer before moving onto various director roles and, a few years later, joining Aligner Technology. In this time, I was tasked with creating many new technologies, including stereolithography (SLA) and digital light processing (DLP) printers.

I enjoy working with my hands, coming up with new solutions and seeing my work have a tangible impact. I was very impressed by Nexa3D’s growing profile and how its printers were the fastest on the market — in September 2021, I was excited to become part of its team in Ventura.

Innovation in action

One of my favorite things about working at Nexa3D is that I’m responsible for product development in a company that is continuously innovating. I’m fortunate enough to be surrounded by a growing team of engineers from a range of disciplines and backgrounds, who each bring different experiences and perspectives that help us drive forwards. As the new Vice President of Engineering, I oversee all our new products, alongside the solutions we are currently developing — I’m really excited for what the future holds!

My new role also has an external element. I’ll be meeting with partners, stakeholders, and new and existing customers — engaging with the needs of the wider industry will be crucial in building new products without any of the traditional pain points.

Interested in joining our team?

It’s never been a better time to join Nexa3D. Working here will give you access to new and challenging projects, presenting an exciting opportunity for any curious engineering mind. Whatever your background or discipline, you will be exposed to the whole engineering spectrum — ranging from electrical and mechanical to process and chemical. We are a small team of kindred spirits, working together towards a goal of digitizing the world’s supply chain sustainably.

In the short time since I joined Nexa3D, I have enjoyed working on every single project I’ve been part of. However, my favorite by far has been working on our new XiP desktop 3D printer. The product has a small footprint, sporting a 190 x 120 x 210 mm build chamber, and can provide high throughput for production-grade applications. It is a really special piece of technology that will inspire its own category of products over time.
